One of my all time favorite things about being a family photographer is capturing all the moments that Moms and Dads don't get to see themselves. I love capturing the look on a Momma's face as she makes her little one laugh, or a Dad who gets to hold is adorable baby girl. These moments won't last forever and it is my joy to be able to grab just a few of them. This sweet family below is no exception. There little 5 month old bundle could not be more loved. His parents simply adore him. I can't wait to share with you some of those "forever moments" for our time together.
I was reflecting on how to begin this blog post and it hit me that there are no words big enough to put into perspective what has happened in this amazing family.
I met Jake and Kristi about 3 years ago. They were friends with my sister, and through a series of family BBQ's, Picnics and the like, we became friends as well. Jake and Kristi have huge hearts! They love life, motorcycles, dogs, and Colorado.
In our short time as friends, I have seen God move in powerful ways. Without going into too much detail. Jake and Kristi began the adoption process about 2 years ago. They had been praying for a child for almost 9 years. Little did they know that God would have not just one, but two blessings in store for them.
Through the adoption process God paired them with another couple who were about to have a child. Through that couple, God chose Jake and Kristi to be parents. When we would talk briefly, you could tell that they were nothing but excited! For those of you who have been through adoption, or know someone who has, it can be a brutally long process with many unexpected twists and turns. But, as God would have it, JJ would come home with them from the hospital as soon as he was born.
Throughout this whole process, God also decided that Jake and Kristi would have a child of their own. In the midst of the adoption process they found out that they were indeed pregnant with their own miracle baby! What an amazing sense of humor God has. After 9 years of faithfully praying and asking God to provide. He did! Far above and beyond.
When Kristi reached out and asked if I'd do their family photos, of course I said yes! What an answer to prayer. After 9 years of waiting, these two became 4 in just 6 short months. They are some lucky kids, and have some of the best parents around!
When I was contacted about the Kelly's end of summer party, I had very few details about the event. All I knew is that it was going to be a fun end of summer party with their friends. I arrived at the most beautiful house with a perfect puppy to boot. These photos are just a few highlights of their time together. You all were amazing hosts and threw a great party!
